APPLYING FOR AN ENTRY VISA

Sweden became party to the Schengen Agreement as of March 25, 2001. As a result, all enquiries and applications forms should be addressed to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Nicosia.

Visa applications are available at the German Embassy between
09.00-11.00 every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (holidays excepted). For further information applicants are kindly requested to contact the German Embassy above.


APPLYING FOR A WORK- AND RESIDENCE-PERMIT

The applicant must first have the Offer of Employment form PF1704 completed before going to the Consulate.

After this form is completed, the actual permit application forms are available at the Consulate office between the hours 0900 and 1100 Monday through Friday.

After the submission of the above completed forms together with two photographs (see below for photograph requirements), an interview will be arranged.

Please note that interviews are conducted on certain dates only, and the Consulate can not reduce the wait time for the interview.

Please have your passport with you when you come for the interview.

After the interview the case will be forwarded to the Swedish Migration Board in Sweden for a decision. Expect a processing time of approximately 3 to 5 months. The Consulate is not in a position to interfere with the handling of an application once it has reached the Swedish Migration Board.

Note: Effective July 15, 2001 an application fee is payable in certain cases upon submission of the application. This fee is not refundable. The Consulate will advise you accordingly.

The applicant will be notified of the result by mail.

APPLYING FOR A WORK- AND RESIDENCE-PERMIT BASED ON MARRIAGE OR CO-HABITATION

If you apply for a residence permit due to marriage or co-habitation you will need to fill out an application form accompanied by a copy of your passport and two photos.

Please call the Consulate (02) 672483 Monday through Friday between the hours of 09:00 to 12:00 for additional information.

When the application is submitted an interview will be scheduled. Normally this is fixed within 10 days from submission of the application.

Please note that interviews are conducted on certain dates only, and the Consulate can not reduce the wait time for the interview.

Please bring your passport and, if married, your marriage certificate.

After the interview, the case will be forwarded to the Swedish Migration Board in Sweden for a decision. Expect a processing time of approximately 3 to 5 months. The Consulate is not in a position to interfere with the handling of an application once it has reached the Swedish Migration Board.

The Consulate will be happy to answer any further questions at the time of your interview.

The Board will also need to interview the party who reside(s) in Sweden. This interview can take place in Sweden. If the spouse of the third party resides in Cyprus with the applicant, then the interview will be conducted in Cyprus.

If the Swedish Immigration Board decides not to grant you a residence permit, you may lodge an appeal with the Aliens Appeals Board within three (3) weeks of the date on which you received notice of the decision.
